Become Involved

Our membership comes from the support of the local community and from park  visitors. We work very closely with the Park Superintendent , Assistant  Superintendents and the park’s Natural Heritage and Education staff to ensure  our projects coincide with both the parks short and long term plans.

All our funding comes solely from memberships, sales at the Nature Shoppe,  special events and donations.

Our Annual General Meeting elects or acclaims members onto a board of directors in December. The board members then chose a chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary for the year. We meet monthly to look at past events and plan for the future.

Why Become a Friend

By joining The Friends of Sandbanks Park, you can make a personal contribution to this association and help the park. As a member you will be entitled to:

  • a discount on all items sold in The Nature Shoppe
  • receive a regular newsletter about The Friends’ activities and the park
  • provide your personal contribution to the improvement of programs within the park
  • voting privileges at the annual Member’s Meeting, and
  • eligibility to occupy a position on the Board of Directors, if nominated and elected

Becoming a Member

Memberships may be purchased at the Park Office, the Nature Shoppe in the Visitor Centre, or by mail. Memberships are renewable annually on March 31.

Friends of Sandbanks memberships are $10 per year for individuals, $15 per family.

Be a Volunteer

The Friends of Sandbanks can always use more help and helpers. Whether your skill-set is on computers, dealing with fund-raising, painting signs, organizing or having fun with kids on the beach, there are many ways you can help. Send in the membership form telling us of your interest and availability. Attend a meeting or two and see how much fun you could have with us. We love to meet new potential ‘Friends’ and see how you can add to our organization.
