Snowfest on Family Day

                

     Join us for our annual cross-country family ski day at Maple Rest on West

      Lake Road between 12:30 and 3:30, Monday February 18th.

    Warm up with chili, coffee and hot chocolate while listening to

     Mark Despault providing live music.

 

 

In fact bring your instrument along and join in.

 

 

 

 

Look for our Book – Sandscapes

Learn more about the park we all love. Sections on geomorphology/formation, history and biology full of wonderful photographs.

Copies available at the Nature Shop in the park during summer season and weekends during shoulder seasons.

Books & Co., Main St, Picton has plenty of copies for sale year-round.

As you travel the county it is available in other locations as well.

Mother’s Day Events

Date: May 12, 2013

Location: Nature Shoppe/Visitor Centre & Lakeshore Lodge

9:00 am Birdwatching Tour Meet at West Point near Lakeshore Lodge remains. Bring your binoculars and a camera.

9:00 am to 4:00 pm the Nature Shop opens for the first time this year with brand new merchandise. Join us for a coffee and a treat while browsing. Located just past the Park Office in with the Visitors’ Centre.

2:000 pm Wildflower Walk Meet at the Visitor Centre with a vehicle. Don’t forget your camera.

Park naturalists will take visitors on the walks giving you a close-up view of some of the flora and fauna of our wonderful park.

Contact the park staff to find out about additional programs and hikes offered by the Naturalist throughout the summer.

Sandfest

Date:   TBD 2013

Location:  Mouth of the Outlet River

Time: 10:00 am -12:30

Family fun sand sculpture event. Small entrance fee. Bring your shovels and pails. Participation prizes for everyone.

Lakeshore Lodge Day

Date:  TBD 2013

Location:  Lakeshore Lodge grounds

Time:  1:00 pm till 4:00 pm

Popular celebration of bygone times. Join in the 1890′s picnic with music and family games. Traditional games include potato sack race, over and under race, rolling pin toss, tug-of-war and more. Fun for adults and children alike.

Corn cooked over an open fire and lemonade will be for sale at a nominal fee.

 

 Fun Run

Date: TBD September 2013

Location: Register from 8:00 till 9:45 am  in front of the Currah’s Park Store inside Sandbanks Provincial Park

Terry Fox run held concurrently.

5k and 10k run in support of the Friends of Sandbanks at one of the most beautiful run locations anywhere.

Scenes of Sandbanks and Beyond

Our annual art show runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am till 5:00 pm in November.

It is located at the Black Prince Winery, 13370 Loyalist Parkway in Picton

Original art to view and purchase depicting artists’ views of Sandbanks and Prince Edward County.

Copies of Sandscapes are available for purchase at the winery.

 

Friends of Sandbanks Annual General Meeting

Our AGM will be held at 5:00 pm on December 10th.
