Dunes Trail Condition, October 2021
The Dunes Trail is one of our favorites in the Park, because it allows visitors to experience the many unique features of this world-class location. The sand dunes, the pannes betwenn the foredunes on Lake Ontario and the main dunes at West Lake, the effects of industry in the early 1900s, as well as visible evidence of reforestation and sand-drift mitigation over the past century can all be experienced during a short walk a few steps away from Dunes Beach. But maintaining a trail in drifting sand, and high water levels is not an easy task.
Maintenance of this trail is now overdue.
It is our hope that remediation of this valuable asset might be a priority for the Park in 2022. We would be glad to provide our support.
